Social Media & Web 2.0

Social media: "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content." Social media: social interaction as a super set beyond social communication. Enabled by ubiquitously accessible and scalable communication techniques, social media has substantially changed the way organizations, communities, and individuals communicate.
It's important that workers in information field have access to social media - and web 2.0 -tools ("EAHIL statement to support institutional access to Web 2.0 tools" under construction).

In information field web 2.0 -technologies enable to create new services based on common 'fundamental' information resources, like PubMed, Scopus etc.:
